ALBINO PEARL STINGRAY (Potamotrygon Sp.)

A good choice of Ray for people looking to get into keeping Stingrays. The Pearl stingray is a beautiful stingray that is endemic to the Tapajos river system in the Amazon. This species grows slightly smaller than the Motoro and can reach sizes of up to 30 inches in diameter.

The Albino Pearl Ray’s have the stunning orange rings, rather thank the darker rings on the standard Pearls.

These Albino Pearl Stingrays are 8” in disc diameter.

Albino Pearl Stingray (Potamotrygon Sp.)

A very large aquarium with a lot of floor space is required for this animal.

Please also note that this is a venomous specie. The venomous barbs are shed once every few months and should be removed from the aquarium (with tongs or protective gloves) to prevent harm to the animal(s).

 

Care: Difficult

Temperament: Not generally aggressive however best housed with larger tankmates.

Max Size: 30” (disc diameter)

Diet: Carnivore and predator, Meaty foods such as White fish, River shrimp, Krill.

Temperature: 21 - 27°C

pH: 6.5 – 6.8

Other Water Conditions: Ensure consistent low nitrate levels and 0 Ammonia and Nitrite.
